LIPOLYSIS

Lipolysis is a minimally invasive fat-dissolving procedure resulting in a slimmer and more toned appearance. This nonsurgical procedure breaks down fat cells in troublesome areas such as the face, hips, back, arms, knees, elbows, and abdomen.

What Exactly is Lipolysis?

PCDC injections, often labeled as lipodissolve, mesotherapy, or PCDC lipolysis, are a combination of two substances, phosphatidylcholine (PC) and deoxycholate (DC). These substances naturally exist in our bodies and when combined and injected, they can help reduce and dissolve stubborn body fat permanently.

How Do These Injections Function?

The process begins by identifying the area that needs treatment. Once this area is determined, the PCDC solution is injected into the fat just beneath the skin following a grid-like pattern. It works by breaking down the walls of the fat cells, which then absorb the PCDC. This results in temporary swelling, hardening, and eventual bursting of these fat cells. The released fat and cell debris are then naturally broken down and removed by the body's defense mechanisms.

The injection is relatively painless. However, a topical numbing cream can be used to help relieve any temporary discomfort during the procedure.

Who is a Suitable Candidate for PCDC?

PCDC could be the right treatment for you if you struggle with persistent fat pockets that don't respond to diet and exercise. However, it may not be suitable if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Have allergies to soy

  • Are at an unhealthy weight

  • Have firm or fibrous fat deposits

Additionally, if you have any chronic health conditions, it's recommended to consult with your physician or PCDC specialist before considering this treatment.

Is PCDC Safe and Are There Any Side Effects from Lipolysis Injections?

Yes, PCDC is an FDA-approved treatment that has been proven to be safe and effective. However, as with any procedure, there are always some risks involved. Some common mild side effects include redness, swelling, stinging, bruising, and general soreness that may last a few days after the procedure. Although rare, more serious side effects can include infection, skin necrosis, and lumps at the injection site.

How Many PCDC Treatments Will I Require?

The exact number of treatments needed may vary from person to person, but typically, patients require around 2-5 treatments for optimal results. Typically, benefits are seen within three weeks of the treatment. Treatments are generally spaced about 4-5 weeks apart, which allows most people to easily accommodate multiple procedures into their schedules. Most patients start to see significant results from PCDC lipolysis after their second, third, or fourth treatment session. Each treatment will contribute more to the fat cells breaking down, and once they’re gone, those cells will never return. Lipolysis injections are not meant to replace healthy diet and exercise however, they are purported to reduce excess fat in small, localized areas of the body.

Do The Injections Permanently Eliminate Unwanted Fat?

Yes, similar to liposuction, this procedure can permanently remove fat cells from the treated areas. However, if you gain weight, any remaining fat cells in the treatment area and throughout your body can still grow, which could lessen the effectiveness of your results.
