HIFU Skin Tightening/Ultherapy

from $250.00

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to target the deep layers of the skin for the purpose of tightening and lifting. When HIFU is used for skin tightening, the ultrasound energy is delivered to the skin's foundation, which stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that helps the skin maintain its elasticity and firmness.

During the treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver the ultrasound energy to the targeted areas of the skin. The device emits high-frequency sound waves, which are focused on specific areas of the skin, causing heat to build up at the treatment site. This heat energy causes the collagen fibers in the skin to contract and tighten, leading to a visible lifting and tightening effect.

The procedure typically takes between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Patients may experience some mild discomfort during the treatment, but the procedure is generally well-tolerated.

The benefits of HIFU for skin tightening include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin elasticity and firmness, and a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Results can be seen immediately following the treatment, and continue to improve over the following weeks and months as the body continues to produce new collagen.

HIFU is considered a safe and effective alternative to surgical facelifts, with minimal downtime and no incisions or anesthesia required. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, which should be discussed prior to undergoing treatment.

What a HIFU treatment feel like?

During a High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for skin tightening, patients may experience some mild discomfort or a warm, tingling sensation as the ultrasound energy is delivered to the targeted area of the skin. The sensation can vary depending on the individual and the intensity of the treatment, but most people describe the feeling as a mild to moderate discomfort, like a hot stone massage.

Some patients may also experience a slight buzzing or vibrating sensation during the treatment, as the ultrasound waves pass through the skin. However, the discomfort is generally well-tolerated, and the treatment can be adjusted to minimize any discomfort or pain.

It's worth noting that the level of discomfort can vary depending on the area being treated. For example, treatments around the forehead and eye area may be more sensitive than treatments on other areas of the face or body.

After the treatment, patients may experience some mild redness, swelling, or tenderness in the treated area, which typically resolves within a few hours to a few days.

How long does HIFU effects last for?

The effects of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for skin tightening can vary depending on a number of factors, including the individual's age, skin condition, and lifestyle habits. Generally, the results of HIFU can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years or more, depending on the individual.

Immediately following the treatment, patients may notice an immediate tightening and lifting effect, as well as a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Over the following weeks and months, the body's natural collagen production process is stimulated, leading to continued improvements in skin texture and firmness.

To maintain the results of HIFU treatment, some patients may choose to undergo additional treatments every 6 to 12 months, depending on their individual needs and goals. It's also important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, in order to support healthy skin and collagen production.

It's worth noting that while HIFU can provide noticeable improvements in skin tightening and lifting, it is not a permanent solution and cannot stop the natural aging process. However, HIFU can be a safe and effective non-invasive alternative to more invasive cosmetic procedures, with long-lasting results that can help patients look and feel their best.

What to avoid after Ultherapy®?

After an Ultherapy session, it’s important to follow our post-treatment instructions to ensure proper healing and the best possible results. Here are some things to avoid after Ultherapy:

  1. Sun exposure: Direct sunlight can damage the skin and interfere with the healing process. It’s recommended to avoid sun exposure for at least a week after Ultherapy and to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 when you do go outside.

  2. Vigorous exercise: Many of our patients are active and wonder, “Can I exercise after Ultherapy?” our recommendation is that it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise and activities that cause sweating for at least 24 hours after Ultherapy.

  3. Anti-inflammatory medications: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding after Ultherapy. It’s recommended to avoid these medications for at least 48 hours after treatment.

  4. Facials or other skin treatments: It’s best to avoid facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and other skin treatments for at least two weeks after Ultherapy to allow the skin to fully heal.

  5. Extreme heat or cold: Avoid using saunas, hot tubs, or ice packs on the treated area for at least two days after Ultherapy.

  6. Alcohol: Many patients ask, “Can I drink alcohol after Ultherapy?” It’s generally best to avoid alcohol for at least 24-48 hours after Ultherapy. Drinking alcohol can increase the risk of swelling, bruising, and other complications after the treatment. Alcohol also dehydrates the body, which can impair the healing process. It’s important to stay hydrated after Ultherapy, so it’s best to drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol, at least for the first day or two after treatment.

By following these guidelines and any additional instructions provided during or after your treatment, you can help ensure a safe and effective recovery from Ultherapy.
